Mauritius welcomed a record year of tourism in 2025. Earnings reached approximately USD 2.2 billion, and the hospitality sector felt every bit of it. Hotels ran fuller, longer and at higher rates.
Early 2026 brought a cluster of dividend declarations from the island's biggest hotel groups. Lux Island Resorts moved first on January 22, riding stronger occupancy and a market capitalisation of Rs 6.65 billion. New Mauritius Hotels, the parent company behind Beachcomber Resorts, followed on February 10 with solid revenue and EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortisation) growth reported for the opening months of its financial year.
Attitude Property Ltd declared Rs 0.35 per share on February 4. Beachcomber Hospitality Investments rounded things off on January 27. Four major groups, all paying out within weeks of each other.
Global Brands Move In
When profits rise, so does interest from outside. RIU Hotels and Resorts is set to open a three-hotel complex on the Le Morne peninsula after investing seventy million Euros to bring the site up to its all-inclusive standard. Meanwhile, Hilton has signed its first Hilton Garden Inn in Phoenix, near the Ebène business district. The one hundred and thirty five room property targets business travellers and offers a more accessible entry point into the Mauritian market. Opening is expected late 2026.
The Rise of Lux-Scaping
There is also a shift in how travellers spend their money. According to Marriott Bonvoy Research, sixty four percent of EMEA travellers now book a short, highly luxurious stay at the beginning or end of their holiday. The industry calls it "lux-scaping." Gen Z and Millennials lead the charge, favouring private spa sessions, curated boat trips and premium suites over longer, budget-stretched stays. It is a preference for intensity over duration.
For an island already synonymous with luxury hospitality, this is a tailwind worth watching. Record earnings, new international operators and a traveller base that increasingly values quality over duration. Mauritius enters 2026 with the kind of momentum most destinations only talk about.
