Mauritius Sotheby's Realty Launches MaxAI Agent

Editorial November 18, 2025

Mauritius Sotheby's International Realty has unveiled MaxAI, its own artificial intelligence agent built specifically for the Mauritian real estate sector. After more than two years in development and a four-month beta phase, shaped by agent and client feedback, the AI virtual assistant was released yesterday (Monday 17 November) exclusively to international visitors to the agency’s website.  Visitors from Mauritius were still able to access it via VPN. Local access should be possible shortly.

MaxAI functions as a real-time property matchmaker and on-demand information assistant for buyers, investors, and prospects. The system responds instantly to enquiries, maintains comprehensive knowledge of every listing, and continually learns from each interaction. “MaxAI is designed around real operational needs, and fully aligned with our brand’s service philosophy,” says Timo Geldenhuys, the Director. “It responds instantly, knows every property listing, understands the real estate landscape of Mauritius, and continually learns from interactions. Its goal is simple: to help clients navigate with clarity, while helping our teams work smarter.”

The technology was fully developed and coded in Mauritius. While it uses OpenAI for conversational capabilities, the AI Property Recommender Engine and other core components are proprietary developments. This locally built solution supports the full real estate workflow, from drafting messages for agents to automating CRM entries and suggesting property recommendations based on live client behaviour.

The launch adds Mauritius Sotheby's International Realty to a growing roster of island agencies implementing or having implemented artificial intelligence solutions, in the last two years.

AI agents provide instant responses around the clock, handle multiple enquiries simultaneously, and free human agents to focus on relationship building rather than administrative tasks. Research indicates that slow agent responsiveness remains the primary complaint in real estate. By automating routine tasks, AI addresses this critical pain point whilst enhancing operational efficiency.

The platform forms part of Mauritius Sotheby's International Realty's broader digital transformation roadmap, integrating data analytics, machine learning, and process automation across client service and operational workflows. With MaxAI streamlining routine operations, the real estate agency now reinforces its position at the intersection of luxury service and technological innovation, in line with Sotheby’s International Realty
