Medine Group will open the expanded Cascavelle Shopping Mall by the end of November 2025, following a Rs 2.6 billion investment and 23 months of construction. The western Mauritius retail destination triples in size to 30,000 square metres, adding over 150 retailers and significantly enhanced leisure facilities.
The extension represents one of the largest retail property investments in Mauritius this year. Edgar Julienne, General Manager at Medine Property, explained the mall's transformation into what the company calls the "flagship destination of the West."
The new development will feature three levels with a contemporary glass facade and vegetated spaces. Parking capacity jumps from 560 to 1,263 spaces, with some covered to improve visitor comfort.
Legends Park anchors the leisure offering. The 2,000 square metre facility is a franchise of the Royal Kids group, which operates in multiple countries including more than 35 parks in France. The facility will provide play structures, virtual reality experiences, arcade games, and supervised childcare for children aged four and above.
Dining options expand substantially. Around 30 of the 150-plus retailers will focus on food and beverage. New restaurant brands include Nando's, Black Salt, Yellow Chilli, Duan Restaurant, and Club 69. The existing Winner's supermarket will receive an upgrade with additional floor space.
Retail additions span multiple categories. Monoprix Maison will open a dedicated home goods and decoration store. Fashion brands Xti and Celio are to join the tenant mix, alongside a redesigned and enlarged Fashion House. Olavie introduces a wellness concept combining pharmacy services, cosmetics, nutrition products, and hair care.
The development reserves space for local entrepreneurs through several kiosks. SMEs featured include Baz Confit, Nuts & Dried Fruits Land, Ti Gouter Moris, African Beauty, and Mini Melts.
The mall sits at a strategic intersection linking central Mauritius, Port Louis, and the west and south-west regions. The upcoming Flic-en-Flac Bypass, currently under development, will further boost accessibility when completed.
Medine designed the expansion to address growing demand from businesses seeking retail space and to enhance customer experience through diversified offerings in a more attractive environment.
