The Kretz family, known internationally through the reality series L’Agence, has opened a luxury real estate agency in Péreybère, marking a new step in the French group’s international expansion.

The agency was inaugurated less than a week ago. It targets both Mauritian and international clients in the island’s high-end property market.

Martin Kretz, the eldest of Sandrine and Olivier Kretz’s four sons, described Mauritius as an increasingly attractive destination for buyers seeking more than a holiday home. He said the island appeals to families and international clients looking to establish a longer-term base.

Founded nearly two decades ago, the Kretz family business became widely recognised through L’Agence, the television series following its work in the luxury real estate sector. Martin Kretz said the programme is now in its seventh season.

The Mauritius operation forms part of Kretz Real Estate’s franchise expansion. Belgium is also among the group’s early international markets. The local franchise was launched by investor Emmanuel Beguier, while Julia Hülshoff-Medar has been appointed agency director.

The Péreybère office will draw on local market knowledge and the group’s international network. According to Martin Kretz, the agency can market properties from €500,000, about Rs 26.6 million, to €10 million, about Rs 532.6 million.

Addressing concerns over affordability and price inflation, Kretz said the agency’s intention is not to overvalue properties or contribute to rising prices. Instead, it aims to match qualified buyers with suitable premium properties.

For the Kretz family, Mauritius also carries a personal connection. Martin Kretz referred to family holidays on the island and memories linked to his Mauritian nanny. He cited quality of life, safety and schools among the factors attracting foreign families to Mauritius.
