Medine Group is investing Rs 2.6 billion in the extension of Cascavelle Shopping Mall. The expansion work will triple the current size of the shopping centre, adding 19,500 m2 with the construction of a new wing between the current building and West Coast International School. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2025 with 66 new retail outlets planned as well as new leisure and catering offers. Overall more than 1,200 additional parking spaces will be offered. Infrastructure works such as road improvements and additional bus stops will be integrated into the expansion.
“In the not-too-distant future, the Western region is set to develop considerably and as a responsible developer, we take the initiative to invest in essential areas in order to generate economic growth that benefits all. This long-term vision allows us to make strategic decisions for an integrated and harmonious development of the West of the island,” says Dhiren Ponnusamy, CEO of the Medine Group.
Inspired by a tropical atmosphere, the new wing will integrate more greenery and trees within the open-air pedestrian walkways, offering the sea on one side and views of the Rempart mountain on the other. The new central square, a plaza with green spaces and leisure activities, will become a focal point of the centre, encouraging meetings and exchanges.
"Located in the heart of a growing Smart City and in the immediate vicinity of the future hospital, Cascavelle Shopping Mall benefits from a strategic central position. This location, combined with a growing catchment area, makes it a destination of choice for both residents and visitors. The region is experiencing demographic growth with many residential projects under development, such as Magenta Parkside, phases 1, 2 and 3 of The Grove, Lotissement Pierrefonds and Oceanside," added Joël Bruneau, Managing Director of Medine Group Real Estate.
